An Evening with Lee Alex – Better the Devil You Know
Hull Magicians’ Circle is delighted to welcome Lee Alex with his lecture, Better the Devil You Know – an evening dedicated to one of magic’s most versatile yet often overlooked utility props: the Devil’s Hank.
At first glance, it may appear to be nothing more than an innocent handkerchief or pocket square, but in the right hands it can become an incredibly powerful tool for creating magic.
Lee will explore the history, development and versatility of the Devil’s Hank, demonstrating how this classic principle can be used for far more than a simple vanish. The lecture covers ideas spanning close-up magic, parlour, stage and even mentalism, showing just how much can be achieved with one deceptively simple prop.
Lee has become particularly well known for producing his own customised Devil’s Hanks for working professionals, developing versions designed to look natural while remaining practical for real-world performance.
Throughout the evening, expect:
Creative uses for the Devil’s Hank
Vanishes, productions and switches
Ideas for close-up, parlour and stage
Mentalism applications
Practical handling and performance advice
Different ways of disguising and introducing the prop
Ideas suitable for working performers
Plenty of usable magic for magicians of all abilities
This promises to be an interesting and practical evening that takes a familiar piece of magical apparatus and shows just how much potential is hidden inside it.
Whether you already use a Devil’s Hank or have never considered adding one to your repertoire, Better the Devil You Know is sure to leave you with plenty of new ideas to explore.
